I never would have guessed it, but this site shows me that Lauren is a boys' name! Its peak popularity was #754 in the 1930s, but it had another spike of (moderate) popularity in the 1980s, reaching #967!

I have met boys named Lorne. And Loren. And I have felt midly sorry for them. "Oh, people will think their name is Lauren!" I said. Now I know it could be worse. One thing that always makes me laugh is looking at judge's names. There is a high proportion of judges with unwieldly, comical names! Just go to the circuit court website near you!
I knew a boy named Loren, too. He was a Mormon! It may be the same one that Jamie already reported on.
